Description:
Often a ConfigMgr admin is also called upon to be a SQL or reporting expert as well. This session will show the Configmgr admin the basics of doing direct queries using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Examples will be shown, and explained, regarding tables vs. views, joining data from multiple views, discussing built-in indexes (and how to find them), demonstrating subselect queries and why one would use them; as well as other basic tips and tricks for the "accidental reporting person".

What you will learn:
  • Understanding Tables vs. Views
  • Subselect Query Example
  • Finding existing Indexed Fields, and why that is useful to know.
